Mataram, suarabali.com – Kaum disabilitas yang berhimpun di organisasi Persatuan Penyandang Disabilitas Indonesia Nusa Tenggara Barat (PPDI NTB) sangat bersyukur saat melihat gedung baru mereka yang dibangun Kapolda NTB Irjen Pol. Mohammad Iqbal lengkap dengan isinya.
Ketua PPDI NTB Asim Barnas menceritakan, PPDI NTB awalnya punya kantor alakadarnya seluas 6 meter. Namun, kantor itu rubuh dan hancur saat gempa mengguncang NTB pada 2018. Agar tetap bisa memberdayakan dan memperjuangkan nasib kaum disabilitas di Bumi Gora, mereka menumpang salah satu ruangan di gedung milik Dinas Sosial NTB.
“Saya seperti mimpi bisa begini kenyataannya. Teman-teman luar biasa senangnya dan juga gedung ini dibangun langsung oleh Pak Kapolda. Kita tinggal terima pakai serta isinya. Otomatis teman-teman semua bahagia, senang, bangga dengan memiliki gedung sendiri,” kata Asim sperti dirilis tribratanews.polri.go.id, Senin (30/11/2020).
Dia menambahkan, PPDI NTB terbantu dan tambah semangat, karena kantor baru yang dibangun Kapolda NTB tersebut sudah lengkap dengan isinya, mulai dari meja dan kursi kerja serta peralatan kantor seperti perangkat komputer, bahkan hingga sound system. “Sekarang (luas kantor) 7 x 9. Ya ada ruang untuk meeting, bersih lagi,” ujarnya.
Asim menceritakan, suatu ketika Kapolda NTB mendatanginya dan rekan-rekannya dengan alasan silaturahim. Irjen Pol. Mohammad Iqbal hanya meminta foto-foto saat kantor lama PPDI runtuh.
“Bapak Kapolda datang ke tempat kita, DPD (Dewan Pengurus Daerah) kita minjam gedung Dinas Sosial. Singkat cerita kita tak memiliki gedung. Kita tak tahu isi hati beliau. Yang jelas, beliau memberi dan kita tidak pernah meminta untuk dibangun. Tiba tiba beliau datang bawa utusannya dari kepolisian, diminta foto foto runtuhannya masih ada. Akhirnya perintahkan siapa gitu untuk bangun gedung. Jadi, kita tidak pernah minta sebenarnya,” ungkap Asim.
Asim mengaku awalnya ragu akan niat lulusan Akpol 1991 itu. Sebab, menurut Asim, urusan kaum disabilitas bukanlah tanggung jawab aparat kepolisian, melainkan dinas sosial.
“Sebelumnya kita tidak tahu sebenarnya. Sebagai aparat penegak hukum, beliau ramah, tapi saya beranggapan ‘ini kan bukan tugas polisi’. Jadi ya nggak percaya aja tadinya, ya sudah deh. Jujur PPDI NTB tak berharap. Makanya kita kaget dan nggak percaya kalau kami dibangunkan sebuah kantor baru yang sangat layak,” sambungnya.
Sedari awal dia dan kawan-kawannya memang kagum dengan sosok mantan Wakapolda Jatim ini, lantaran tak canggung berinteraksi dengan kaum disabilitas. Bagi PPDI NTB, bertemu pejabat tinggi sekelas provinsi saja suatu hal yang sulit, apalagi bisa berbagi cerita dan bertukar pikiran.
“Kesan berbeda saat bertemu beliau, pribadi yang luar biasa. Langsung ajak ngobrol teman-teman, tidak canggung. Coba kalau tidak ada covid, saya yakin semua paling akan memeluk beliau. Kan banyak dari temen-teman yang jarang ketemu orang pejabat tinggi, apalagi diajak bicara, kan kita disabilitas itu, mohon maaf, kita marginal, kita mohon maaf. Jangankan dipeluk, dihampiri saja susah,” ungkapnya haru.
Dengan adanya kantor baru ini, dia berharap kaum disabilitas di provinsi lainnya juga mendapatkan perlakuan yang sama seperti yang dia dan kawan-kawannya rasakan saat ini. Menurut Asim, baru PPDI NTB yang memiliki gedung pengurus lengkap dengan peralatan kerja.
“Mendapat perlakuan yang sama kantor sendiri. Soalnya baru NTB yang punya gedung sendiri lengkap dengan peralatannya,” ungkapnya.
Kantor PPDI NTB terletak di Dusun Perempung, Desa Sandik, Kecamatan Batulayar, Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Gedung PPDI NTB diresmikan langsung oleh Irjen Pol. Mohammad Iqbal dan disaksikan Kepala Dinas Sosial NTB serta Komisaris Relawan Gempa.
Dalam sambutannya, Irjen Pol. Mohammad Iqbal mengatakan kehadiran polisi sebagai pelayan, pengayom, dan pelindung masyarakat.
“Terlebih lagi Polri harus mengoptimalkan pelayanan dan pengayoman kepada saudara kita yang tergabung dalam Penyandang Disabilitas Indonesia.
